Adam Malysz, a skiing legend, has surprised everyone by announcing his comeback to the sport in order to support young talent. This marks the first time since his retirement that he will be back on the ski jumping ramp.

The 46-year-old Malysz, who last stood on a ski jumping ramp on March 26, 2011 in Zakopane, reaching around 120 meters, decided to end his career at that point. He had not even wanted to train on a ramp anymore. However, he is now changing his mind to support the next generation of ski jumpers.

According to sport.pl, Malysz will be testing a mobile ski jumping ramp as part of an initiative by the Polish Ski Association and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The goal of this new project is to nurture young talent and encourage their development.

A mobile ski jumping ramp, mounted on a delivery van, will travel across Poland starting from the end of October to scout for future ski jumping stars. Malysz, who is also the president of the Polish Ski Association, expressed his excitement about the project and his commitment to testing the ramp himself.

“I have been on site a few times and this project is like my baby, so I cannot imagine not jumping on it. I will not miss the opportunity to test the facility,” Malysz stated in an interview with sport.pl. He also revealed plans to appear at the Lotnik Academy in Wrocław, Szczecin, and his hometown Wisla.

Despite his own involvement in the initiative, Malysz emphasized that the focus should be on the children who come to learn ski jumping and not on him. He stressed that the initiative is about nurturing young talent and not about his personal comeback to the sport.

Malysz, who has won four medals at the Olympic Winter Games and has been serving as the president of the Polish Ski Association since 2022, has also dabbled in rally sports and participated in the Rally Dakar five times. His return to the ski jumping scene is not just about his own comeback, but about inspiring and guiding the next generation of ski jumpers in Poland.
