In the Promotion League match between the U21 teams of Basel and Luzern, the game was called off after the first half with a score of 1-0. The reason for the cancellation was due to a suspected concussion suffered by a player.

The incident involved FCL defender Sonny Henchoz (19) and FCB striker Gabriel Sigua (19). During a challenge, they collided heads, resulting in both players needing medical attention.

Doctors diagnosed Henchoz, the son of former national team player, with a suspected concussion and informed the referee. Following the severity of the collision, the referee, in consultation with both team captains, decided to abandon the match as per the protocol.

FCL confirmed that Henchoz was taken to the hospital for further examinations upon inquiry. Similarly, FCB stated that Sigua was also hospitalized as a precautionary measure.

The decision on when the game between the two youth teams will be rescheduled will be made in the coming days.

In the Promotion League standings for the 24/25 season, FC Rapperswil-Jona leads with 62 points, followed by FC Baden with 46 points. SC Kriens and Vevey-Sports are tied at 43 points each, while FC Bavois and FC Biel-Bienne have 34 and 21 points, respectively. The rest of the teams are ranked accordingly based on their points earned so far in the season.

The safety and well-being of the players are of utmost importance in any sporting event, and it is crucial to take necessary precautions when injuries occur.
