China’s annual imports from the Yamal natural gas project in the resource-rich Arctic region are set to play a crucial role in alleviating winter energy shortages in the country, particularly in northern China. According to Jiang Qi, the general manager of CNPC Russia, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp., imports from the Yamal project will substantially boost China’s oil and gas reserves.
