The Global Employability University Ranking and Survey (GEURS) evaluates universities worldwide based on the employability of their graduates. Switzerland has made it to the 10th position with seven universities among the top 250 institutions with the most employable graduates, as reported by “Times Higher Education” on Thursday. The seven Swiss institutions include ETH Zurich (ranked 17th), EPFL Lausanne (ranked 27th), University of Zurich (ranked 73rd), University of Bern (ranked 112th), University of Lausanne (ranked 114th), University of Basel (ranked 121st), and the University of Geneva (ranked 188th). This means that Switzerland is represented by the same number of universities in the top 250 as in the previous year’s GEURS evaluation.
In total, over 40 countries and regions worldwide are represented in the top 250 universities in terms of the employability of their graduates. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) holds the top position among individual universities, according to GEURS. US and UK institutions occupy a total of 10 out of the top 20 positions. Besides Switzerland, countries like Germany, Japan, Singapore, China, Canada, Spain, and France also have universities in the top 20. Compared to the previous year, Asian universities are more prominently featured, indicating a growing global approach in preparing students for the job market.
According to the study, there are 52 institutions in Asia among the top 250. The evaluation collected around 130,000 votes from over 13,000 executives from 33 countries. This recognition of Swiss universities for producing highly employable graduates highlights the quality of education and training provided by these institutions. It also underscores the importance of preparing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the competitive global job market.
Swiss universities’ presence among the top institutions globally reflects their commitment to delivering education that meets the demands of the industry and equips students with the skills needed for the future workforce. The recognition from global leaders in various sectors further solidifies Switzerland’s reputation for excellence in higher education. As the world continues to evolve and industries become more interconnected, the role of universities in shaping the workforce of tomorrow becomes increasingly crucial. Swiss universities are well-positioned to continue producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also adaptable and ready to tackle the challenges of the rapidly changing global landscape.
