After the end of his doping ban, French 2018 World Cup champion Paul Pogba is facing the end of his time at Italian club Juventus Turin.
“Our squad is full,” said Juventus Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli in an interview with “Sky Sport Italia” on Saturday. “Paul was a great player. Last year and this year, we were forced to invest in other players, and our position is clear: At the moment, our squad is full.”
Pogba tested positive for high levels of testosterone after a Serie A match between Juventus and Udinese Calcio in August of last year. The B-sample confirmed the result. Pogba appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and denied using banned substances for performance enhancement. However, the Italian sports court banned him for four years at the end of February.
Although the Court of Arbitration for Sport found that Pogba did not intentionally dope, they reduced his doping ban from four years to 18 months in October. This means that Pogba could be eligible to play football again from March of next year. The former national team player has expressed his desire to return to Juventus and is willing to accept a reduced salary to do so.
The news of Pogba’s potential return to the pitch has sparked discussions among Juventus fans and football enthusiasts alike. Many are curious to see if the 31-year-old midfielder can make a successful comeback after his doping controversy. Pogba’s skills and experience could be valuable assets to the team if he is able to reintegrate into the squad effectively.
As Juventus plans for the future without Pogba, they are focusing on maximizing the potential of their current roster. The team is working on strategies to maintain their competitive edge in domestic and international competitions. With a full squad and a clear direction, Juventus is determined to continue their winning tradition and achieve success on the pitch.
While Pogba’s future at Juventus remains uncertain, his supporters are hopeful that he will be able to make a triumphant return to the sport he loves. Only time will tell if Pogba can overcome this setback and write a new chapter in his football career with Juventus.
