The movie “Just this Once – It Ends with Us” is based on a Colleen Hoover novel. The main role is played by Blake Lively, known from the series “Gossip Girl.” She is now 36 years old, but the character in the novel is in her 20s, which disappointed some fans. However, the author of the novel, Colleen Hoover, even considered the young age of Lily in the novel as a mistake in hindsight and is therefore happy to bring the story to the screen with an older protagonist. “Just this Once” will also be shown at the Filmgalerie Bad Füssing on its national release on August 15th. PNP is giving away tickets and giveaways – books and bags in addition to the tickets.
Author of “New Adult” genre has sold over 20 million books
It is somewhat surprising that it took until 2024 for the first adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel to hit the big screen with “Just this Once.” The author, active since 2012, has already sold over 20 million books and has had a significant influence on the romantic films and series in the highly influential “New Adult” genre. The Texan writer was also involved in the screenplay for “Just this Once,” based on her novel “It Ends With Us” published in 2016.
In the story: In Boston, Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) hopes not only to start a new life but to lead a proper life for the first time. However, she must first leave behind the traumatic experiences of her childhood. At the same time, she wants to open her own small shop. And a new beginning in love seems to be on the horizon as Lily meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) and falls in love with him immediately. But even the young couple’s happiness puts Lily to the test, as she realizes that she is falling into similar patterns as her parents in the relationship. And as if that wasn’t hard enough, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), her first love, suddenly appears in Boston, bringing even more turmoil into Lily’s new life. Now she must decide what and who she truly wants in life.
